The
team at Diaz
Iain
Smith (founder) quit his job at the Hay Group in London to
start Diaz Research in 2001. At Hay, he was practice head of IT HR consulting,
and manager of the Technology Media & Telecom (TMT) consulting team in
the London.
With
a BSc in Applied Physics and an MSc (Econ) from the LSE, he has a solid
quantitative background. But the less quantitative challenge of working
out how best to get IT people and IT organizations to perform has,
however, long been his big preoccupation.
He has consulted to
small and large IT functions, dot.coms, technology and telecom
companies and blue-chip consultancies on the full range of issues
ranging from employee engagement and reward through to career planning and
development.
Iain
is the final arbiter in everything that Diaz Research publishes and is
always keen to hear from anyone with ideas or information about relevant
topics.
His
other interests include the Roman road system in Northern France.
Susan
Soper combines research with event management and a range of
other activities. She has a degree in Politics and a background in writing
about a range of 'people' issues relating mainly to the Finance sector. Her
experience includes some years at the Securities Institute in the City of
London; she later worked as a freelance journalist, producing a City
Careers Guide among many other things.
She
is currently extending her qualifications in 'signing' for deaf
people.
Wendy
Franklin (analyst) has a degree in Applied Mathematics from
Warwick University and has in-depth experience in designing and conducting data-based
surveys on an international basis, and in providing specialist consultancy to the HR profession.
Most
of her experience in these matters was gained with ECA International, the
London-based provider of advice on expatriate remuneration practices,
where her responsibilities ranged from managing the remuneration services
area to heading up the consulting services team. Wendy
leads the quantitative analysis for Diaz Research.
She
is also a keen pianist.
Abigail
Stein combines HR experience in the finance sector with HR and
change management experience in PwC in Australia and London. Her
consulting experience with large companies encompasses leadership
development, competency-based appraisal systems, internal communications
and change management associated with the introduction of new systems.
Abigail
has degrees in Economics, Industrial Psychology, Industrial Relations and
Personnel Management from The University of Witwatersrand (South Africa)
and the LSE.
